Premier League Round-up

This first week of fixtures saw some exciting games including Liverpool v Spurs, Man Utd v Watford and Arsenal v Newcastle. Here is my round-up on this weekend's fixtures.

Fulham v Manchester City
Whenever Man City go anywhere after an International Break, they often batter the team they play against. This was no exception. Fulham needed to go into this game probably needing maximum points to have any hope of staying up but gave the ball away far to often in the first half and conceded 2 goals they probably set up themselves. Bernardo Silva scored the first and Aguero scored the second. Second half saw City relax a bit more but should have scored more. Glad I got my prediction pretty close. Is time up for Fulham?
I Predicted: 1-3
Final Score: 0-2
MOTM: Aguero, high intensity all game gifted with a goal.

Brighton v Southampton
A proper relegation clash. To be fair, it was a pretty low key affair. Not much really happened with both team registered 3 shots on target combined. Come the 53th minute, HĂžjbjerg scored after a decent move. Should Brighton off had a penalty? No, easy call for the referee, just lost his balance. Pretty dull game separated by one goal.
I Predicted: 0-0
Final Score: 0-1
MOTM: Redmond, great running a set up the only goal in what was a dull game

Burnley v Wolves
A good result for Burnley on Sean Dyche's 300 managerial appearance and it kicked off with a bang. Within 90 second saw Burnley 1 up with a Connor Coady own goal. Big appeal for handball for Wolves not given, I think that's the right call from the referee as his arms were down by his side. Wolves had plenty of chance to equalize but some strong defensive displays from the Burnley defenders. In the 77th minute McNeil but Burnley 2-0 up along with a strong defensive performance saw 3 huge points for Burnley. Wolves should of had more from that game but Burnley deserved 3 points.
I Predicted: 0-1
Final Score: 2-0
MOTM: Tarkowski, lead in defense and made sure a clean sheet was kept

Crystal Palace v Huddersfield
Relegation was confirmed for Huddersfield this weekend after losing along with other results going against them. Dull first half but Huddersfield could of taken the lead if it wasn't from the heroics from Guaita. Palace were much better second half but it took a penalty so break the ice. Milivojevic confidently put the penalty away. 88th minute saw Palace score there second through Patrick van Aanholt. Game of two halves but the goals late on separated the Eagles and the Terriers.
I Predicted: 1-1
Final Score: 2-0
MOTM: Guaita, kept Palace in the game in the first half, could have easily been a different game if it wasn't for him.

Leicester v Bournemouth
A comfortable victory for Leicester. It started very well with Wes Morgan scoring with a cheeky finish. Should have been more with Vardy and Maddison have some good effects on goal. Late on, the game saw Vardy finally put away a chance with a quality header to see a 2-0 victory. A game that could of been so much more competitive with both teams capable of finishing 7th.
I Predicted: 1-2
Final Score: 2-0
MOTM: Tielemans, composed, set up a goal and had a all round good performance.

Manchester United v Watford
Watford visiting Old Trafford was always going to tough task but didn't Watford put a show on. Early on Watford nearly made a horror mistake in what looks like a back pass, I disagree, would be soft to give it. Martial went down in the box later on but his penalty appeals were quickly waved away. Moments later, Rashford put United ahead with a neat finish. Second half saw Watford apply pressure throughout the half but Martial put the Red Devils two ahead against the run of play. Watford pulled one back in injury with a neat move finished by Doucoure. Watford deserved a least a point today but should feel hard done. My prediction wasn't far off but probably wasn't as comfortable as I hoped
I Predicted: 3-0
Final Score: 2-1
MOTM: Martial, had a few early chance he could have put away but a goal and he worked hard.

West Ham v Everton
Everton came to the London Stadium to face the Hammers and started fantastically with a Kurt Zouma heading after 5 minutes. It could have been 2 if Fabianski hadn't of made a fantastic double save. Everton were on top the whole of the first half and saw their lead double through Bernard with a tap in at the back post after some good football. A poor performance from the Hammers, only registering 3 shots all game. Everton should of and could of put 5 or 6 passed West Ham but a combination of some Fabianski saves and poor shooting from Everton saw the score stay down to only 2-0. A great performance from Everton and a poor showing from West Ham.
I Predicted: 1-1
Final Score: 0-2
MOTM: Andre Gomes, willing pass and set up a lot of unfinished chances.

Cardiff v Chelsea
Sadly, a game that will have the officials as the centre of attention. Cardiff hopes of survival came to a halt as they are unlucky to lose the game. Chelsea control possesion in the first half but didn't get the goal they probably deserved. Early in the second half Camarasa helped Cardiff take the lead. Sadly, Azpilicueta scored a undeserved goal, dampened by a poor decision by the linesman. Azpilicueta was a good 3 yards offside, a poor call. Loftus-Cheek scored a 91st minute winner with a header. Cardiff lost undeservedly, deserved a least a point.
I Predicted: 1-4
Final Score: 1-2
MOTM: Gunnarsson, worked well in defense. Set the tone for Cardiff.

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspurs
Liverpool lucky to get 3 points against Spurs as Alderweirid scored a 90th minute own goal. Liverpool took a early lead through a Roberto Firmino 16th minute header. Spurs battled hard and got a deserved equalizer through Lucas Moura. Spurs even had chances to take all three, but from a great save from Lloris see the ball deflected passed him off Alderweireld knee. Would think Klopp believes he was lucky to get 3 points. My prediction was close, probably shouldn't have.
I Predicted: 2-0
Final Score: 2-1
MOTM: Robertson, completed the most passes on the pitch and assist the first goal

Arsenal v Newcastle
Monday Night Football consisted of a night at the Emirates. Arsenal deservedly won an could of had more. Ramsey had a goal disallowed early on but he helped Arsenal take the lead in the 30th with a low strike from 15 yards out. Matt Richie stopped the ball crossing the line with a diving header but could stop Lacazette scoring late on to guarantees Arsenal 3 points. The win puts Arsenal 3rd above Spurs. Pretty close here as well with predicting.
I Predicted: 2-1
Final Score: 2-0
MOTM: Ramsey, played will and got a deserved goal
